VWF Collagen Binding
Justification
The collagen binding assay measures the ability of a patient's VWF to functionally bind to collagen. The ability of VWF to bind to collagen assesses the efficiency of VWF to bind platelets in the subendothelial matrix at localized sites of vascular injury. Decreased collagen binding may be used as a surrogate for decreased high molecular weight multimers.
